Former gubernatorial candidate Phil Lyman launched another legal battle against Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson on Friday, alleging that Utah voter privacy laws violate federal statute and demanding that he receive access to state voter registration information. The organization representing Lyman, the Public Interest Legal Foundation, a national nonprofit firm focused on election transparency, said they filed the lawsuit on Friday morning in the Utah District of the United States District Court.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox broke with his party this week as the only Republican governor to make a statement in response to what some celebrate as Pride Month during the month of June. But he also broke from his own custom. Instead of officially declaring June “Pride Month” — as he had his first three years in office — Cox released a simple message, similar to last year’s declaration, about the importance of seeking unity and compassion.

The Trump administration may have left its toughest task this week to U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, a 44-year-old alumnus of Brigham Young University from Paradise, California. Greer, who learned to speak fluent French during a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Brussels, Belgium, will be representing the United States at the annual meeting of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris, France, on Wednesday.

An analysis of the 2024 presidential election found that politically moderate and younger Latter-day Saints have “warmed up” to President Donald Trump after swinging away from the Republican candidate in 2016 and 2020. The Republican rebound among young and moderate voters goes against some predictions of a permanent Latter-day Saint shift toward the Democratic Party during the Trump era, according to a comparison of election data published Monday by political scientist Ryan Burge.

This month, Gov. Cox asked Utahns to build "bridges of understanding." Paul Edwards of BYU's Wheatley Inst. said this call for pluralism in "Pride Month" is important to democracy: “It’s vital that we get this right because we do need to live together in some kind of peace."

Gov. Cox didn't officially declare "Pride Month" this June. UTA won't participate in & UofU won't sponsor the SLC Pride parade. Comcast/Anheuser-Busch/Target pulled Pride funding across country. “There’s a massive vibe shift,” @robbystarbuck told @Deseret.https://t.co/ORPdwxHhxs
