In the spring, a lot of rain is expected, but sometimes it may rain a bit harder than usual. In the past, local businesses had severe flooding issues when it rained hard, which caused them thousands of dollars in damages and days of no operation. A severe thunderstorm and flood warning hit the Auburn-Opelika area on April 6, and businesses are still being affected by major flooding.

Sheila the kangaroo returned home safely after running away from Auburn’s Choctafaula Ranch on Tuesday and causing two minor crashes on Interstate-85 in Macon County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. Macon County Sheriff Andre Brunson told AP News that Sheila was captured on the side of the interstate between Tuskegee and Auburn. She was tranquilized by a dart and treated at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, according to AP News.

A kangaroo that caused two separate I-85 crashes in Macon County was captured Tuesday afternoon, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division and the animal owner recovered the kangaroo. No one was injured in either crash. Neither was the animal.
