Donte Rice Jr., now 18, was sentenced Tuesday for gunning down 14-year-old Amani Smith on Jan. 23, 2024. Rice, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, fired three gunshots at Smith near Latonia Elementary School in Covington, according to prosecutors. “This is a tragic case of youth killing youth,” described Judge Kathleen Lape.

    CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Some Dohn Community High School parents say they are still trying to find another school for their students to attend after the abruptly closed Monday. Donna Davis says she’s still trying to find a school for her 7th grader, who was a student at Dohn Community High School. The school cited “insurmountable financial challenges” from the previous school year for the closure. The school originally said it would be closing in June. “It’s exhausting,” explained Davis.

    FAYETTEVILLE, Ohio (WXIX) - Residents in Brown County are trying to clean up the damage caused by a confirmed tornado that hit early Thursday. Several snapped power poles and downed power lines cover the area outside of Mindy Holden’s home Thursday. She says it wasn’t until the morning that she was able to see what damage the tornado left behind. “I couldn’t see beyond my porch,” Holden described.
