Police on Monday were investigating five separate homicides that happened across New York City over the weekend, including one that took place on an MTA shuttle bus, according to NYPD officials. Officials said they had not made any arrests yet, and had not publicly identified the victims. The killings occurred in Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn at various times of day, starting Friday night, the NYPD said. Three of the victims killed were stabbed, and two were shot.

A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said that “there will likely be more arrests coming” for members of Congress who were present when Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested outside a federal immigration detention facility in New Jersey on Friday. In an interview on CNN Saturday morning, DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin told anchor Victor Blackwell that the agency was reviewing body camera footage that allegedly showed elected officials pushing and shoving federal agents.

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested at a newly reopened federal immigration detention center in his city Friday afternoon, according to local and federal officials. The Trump administration’s new acting U.S. attorney for New Jersey accused him of trespassing on the property. Baraka was handcuffed and brought into the Delaney Hall detention center, according to his spokesperson, who said it was not immediately clear whether he was still at the facility or had been transported elsewhere.

A federal judge has temporarily blocked Trump administration efforts to withhold funding for housing assistance across the country, including for thousands of New York City families, according to local officials and court records. The city and seven other jurisdictions sued the administration in Seattle District Court last week, challenging what they called “unlawful conditions” on the funding, which supports organizations that help house vulnerable populations.
