    BREWER, Maine (WABI) - Maine lost an esteemed member of its Greatest Generation. Brewer native Ed Hendrickson died Thursday morning at 104 years old. We’re told Hendrickson passed away peacefully after a short illness with his family by his side. The Navy veteran and WWII dive bomber pilot was known for his proud service to his country as well as his colorful outfits to match a boisterous personality. Before his death, Hendrickson credited his longevity in part to physical activity.

    BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A local business owner is keeping busy this week. Between re-opening in a new location and organizing a popular annual event, Jess Stuart is doing it all while keeping her cool. After a trying couple of months, Stuart moved her businesses, Cool Girl Collective and Glowgetters Spray Tans, up the street to a new location. “We now have nine parking spots that are only ours, and it’s just a really great spot. So much sunlight,” Stuart said.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (WABI) - Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, is back in the U.S. after leading a delegation to Rome over the weekend. The bipartisan group of Catholic Senators traveled to attend the funeral of Pope Francis on Saturday. WABI spoke to Collins about her travels Monday. She described the experience as extraordinary, inspiring, and beautiful. She says she was filled with a sense of humility, joy, and honor to be among the 250,000 mourners from more than 170 countries in attendance.

    BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Hundreds of Mainers will take to the streets of Bangor this Sunday to Walk for Autism. This will be the 23rd annual Walk for Autism, which serves as the Autism Society of Maine’s largest fundraiser of the year. Organizers say despite rain in the forecast, around 400 people have already registered to attend. Participants will take off from the Waterfront Park on Railroad Street in Bangor at 12:00 p.m. Sunday.

    AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - Fire crews are keeping busy as dozens of wildfires have burned across Maine already this week. According to the Maine Forest Service, there have been 54 wildfires in the state over the past three days alone. They’ve resulted in burns to a little under 40 acres. Officials say that’s pretty typical for this time of year.
