SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A former middle school teacher from northwest Iowa could spend three decades in federal prison after authorities said she sexually exploited a student. On Wednesday, April 30, Samantha Meyer-Davis, 32, of Rutland, Iowa, pleaded guilty in federal court in Sioux City to sexual exploitation of a child. She must serve at least 15 years in federal prison and could spend as many as 30 years incarcerated. There is no parole for federal crimes.

NORFOLK, Neb. (KCAU) — Norfolk Public Schools now knows who will lead the district next year as interim superintendent. According to News Channel Nebraska, school board officials voted unanimously on Monday to have Bill McAllister take on the role for one year. He was previously a superintendent at multiple districts and was assistant superintendent at South Sioux City Community Schools for the 2023-2024 school year. He also ran for the Nebraska State Board of Education in 2024 but lost.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The Sioux City Art Center is being recognized as part of the 2025 Iowa Governor’s Arts Awards for one of its projects that debuted this past year. Lieutenant Governor Chris Cournoyer and the Iowa Economic Development Authority awarded the museum with the Arts Service Award for Amanda Browder’s “Razzle Dazzle” project back in August.

DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. (KCAU) — The Big Sioux Levee Trail in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota has opened back up temporarily after being closed to allow for repairs to the river’s levee. According to the Dakota Dunes Community Improvement District, the trail is open as of April 30. However, it’s expected to close again sometime in May once Lieber Construction gets additional materials and continues work on the Big Sioux River levee.
