SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Parks located in Woodbury County are expected to open very soon. According to a release from the Woodbury County Conservation Board, the campgrounds, cabins, restrooms, and shelters at parks in Woodbury County will be opening to the public on May 1. Parks that will be opening up include Brown’s Lake Bigelow Park, Snyder Bend Park, Southwood Conservation Area, Fowler Forest Preserve, and Little Sioux Park.

Man killed in two-vehicle crash near Laurel, Nebraska

HARTINGTON, Neb. (KCAU) — A man was killed Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash that happened near Laurel, Nebraska. According to a release from the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened on Highway 59 at the intersection of Highway 15 at around 8:49 p.m.At around this time, a Peterbilt was heading east on Highway 59 when officials said that a 2004 Buick Century turned onto the highway from Highway 15, failing to yield to the oncoming Peterbilt.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Thousands in the Siouxland area are without power following a storm that made its way through the area overnight. According to the MidAmerican Energy’s outage map, there are currently 8,933 Iowans without power. Nearly 6,500 of these MidAmerican customers are located near Storm Lake. The map shows a total of 6,585 customers in their Storm Lake metro coverage area without power, most of which is focused around the city of Storm Lake.

The bulk of these outages remain in the Storm Lake area, with power being nearly completely restored in and around Fort Dodge and Waterloo. SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — 18th Street in Sioux City will be temporarily closed on Monday. According to a release from the city, 18th Street will be temporarily closed between Steuben Street and Terminal Drive beginning April 21. This closure will allow a contractor to install underground utilities in the area and is expected to take approximately 10 work days to complete, weather permitting.

Norfolk to conduct emergency sewer repairs on Norfolk Avenue

NORFOLK, Neb. (KCAU) — Officials in Norfolk will be conducting sewer repairs on Norfolk Avenue later this week. The emergency sewer repair will be taking place on West Norfolk Avenue between 4th and 5th Streets this Thursday and Friday. While work is being done to the sewer, the eastbound lane of West Norfolk Ave.. will be closed from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. The road will be open overnight.
