    WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — A woman is facing multiple charges after a shooting at a convenience store in Kingstree left one dead and another injured Thursday, according to the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office. Edith Chinethia Williams, 46, of Kingstree, was arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder, two counts of unlawful conduct towards a child, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

    Donna Vanpelt, 69, of North Charleston, died on the scene of 3435 Cochise Street from injuries sustained from the fire. A police report states officers were called to the location at approximately 3:34 a.m. and were able to safely remove the caller from the porch of the building. The caller reportedly told police their sister was still inside the building, but due to the fire and smoke, officers were unable to retrieve Vanpelt.

    Kenneth Miller Jr., 42, was found convicted of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and possessing a weapon by a person prohibited, Solicitor Scarlett A. Wilson announced Friday. Miller was sentenced to 15 years in prison by Judge Jennifer McCoy after a multi-day trial. Miller shot his then-84-year-old aunt Juanita Dukes on Jan. 4, 2024 while inside her home in North Charleston.

    NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A North Charleston man is facing a slew of charges after the execution of a search warrant led police to confiscate a large amount of narcotics. Jonathan Simmons, 43, was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, six counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to online jail records.
