FAIRMONT, W.Va (WDTV) -Trinity Assembly of God and New Vision Renewable Energy have come together to build tiny homes for young men aging out of foster care. Pastor Wayde Wilson is happy to help disadvantaged youth. “70 some percent of them end up homeless or in jail. So, by providing this housing and this community New Vision is really changing the destiny of young men,” said Wayde Wilson, Trinity Assembly of God Church Pastor. The homes will cost around $65,000 to build and be moved to Philippi.

GRAFTON, W.Va (WDTV) - On Monday Ronald Burns was taking a walk near Newcome AVE in Grafton when he discovered something that gave him great concern. “I noticed an open draining there and it one a kid could fall into an animal, or even an adult can fall into this thing because water goes through that and flows to the river,” said Ronald Burns, Grafton resident. Burns took action and put a pallet over the area. However, he said some people were not happy.

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) -The city of Elkins and Rotary District 7545 put on a parade to welcome in the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument that honors fallen soldiers. A legendary Rotary Medal of Honor recipient made today possible. “When Woody Williams our last WWII veteran passed in 2022 we wanted to honor him as a Rotarian as a veteran and honor his wishes to expand the network of gold star monuments,” said Dan McCarthy, Rotary District 7545 Governor.

ELKINS, W.Va (WDTV) -In 1961 19-year-old Jon Browning of Georgia was asked to leave Georgia State College for Women because she had worshipped at a Black Church, Wesley Chapel AME Church. She knew she had to take action. “We opened to the doors so I as a White Georgia Girl could have friends who were African American and we could go out and eat together and go to movies together and as freedom writers we could sit on buses and trains,” said Joan Browning, Civil rights activist, Freedom Rider.
