KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The families of victims killed along the Indian Creek Trail more than seven years ago will have to wait even longer for justice. Despite the Missouri Department of Mental Health determining on Feb. 14 that the alleged killer, Fredrick Scott, is competent to stand trial, his defense made a motion to have a second evaluation conducted. KCMO Mom shares with me why she’s praying for a new jail in final attempt to help her daughter before it’s too late.

Following a KSHB 41 I-Team story that aired in late March on municipal court prisoners being released from jail early, we were contacted by a Kansas City, Missouri, mother. Story by @CKnuteKSHB https://t.co/lvbivziM3P

I’ve spent months looking into this story, and would have aired it sooner, but the recently fired City Manager gave me the run around on records I requested and kept me waiting on documents, including only partially filling my records requests.

Records the KSHB 41 I-Team obtained show that over an almost four-year period, 427 Kansas City Municipal Court prisoners were released early back into the community. @CKnuteKSHB reports: https://t.co/YoxP48rYdI
