A local council has been briefed on the future of its recreational boating facilities, with three priority locations identified for improved infrastructure. The update was given to Noosa councillors at last week's Services and Organisation Committee meeting following confirmation from Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) that it would allocate $2.5 million to future projects.

The Department of Primary Industries is investigating allegations of animal neglect at a long-standing horse-riding centre, but the owner says the claims are "totally false". Operating since the 1980s, the centre has become a popular place for people of all ages to enjoy horseback trail-riding experiences. A promise for funding to upgrade boat infrastructure is set to be fulfilled despite some silence on when the money would be allocated. Before the state election last year, the LNP committed $2.5 million to provide boating-related upgrades along the Noosa River. The proposed improvements would address a shortfall in boat ramps and boat trailer parking, reducing pressure on local car parking. However, since the election little had been said on if, or when, the funding would be allocated.

Lane changes are set for a busy thoroughfare that connects to a fast-growing residential area after a local councillor called out "people driving like tools". It follows a series of community complaints to Sunshine Coast Council about "dangerous driver behaviour" and speeding through a school zone. As a result, painted chevrons and merging signals will be placed along an eastbound section of Peter Crosby Way at Palmview.

A significant site earmarked for an aged care facility is still sitting vacant 18 years after an application was first lodged to build on the land. In 2007 Sundale applied to Noosa Council to build a facility at Tewantin before a lengthy process eventuated in a Planning and Environment Court win in 2015. The applicant has now applied for an extension to currency period to develop the more than 17-hectare site at 82-100 McKinnon Drive.
