HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WAFF) - The Alabama baseball team’s historic run came to a close on Saturday in the Hattiesburg Regional. The Crimson Tide fell 6-5 in a power battle against Southern Mississippi. Nine of the eleven total runs were scored with the long ball. Alabama held the lead until the bottom of the eighth when a two run RBI double by Athens native Tucker Stockman scored the go ahead run for the Golden Eagles.

MADISON, Ala. (WAFF) - A chance at the series sweep was spoiled on Friday night for the Rocket City Trash Pandas, falling 2-1 to the Biloxi Shuckers. The Shuckers scored the first run of the ballgame in the top of the third on an RBI single by Luke Adams. The Trash Pandas evened the game in the bottom of the fifth, after David Calabrese’s single moved Joe Redfield to third.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - For the first time this season, the Rocket City Trash Pandas have won games on back-to-back days, sweeping the doubleheader 2-1, 4-1 on Thursday from Toyota Field. The Trash Pandas were led by the pitching staff in both games, allowing a combined two runs over 14 innings. Wabert Urena, got the start in Game One of the day and tossed a gem. The righty went the distance, giving up just one run on three hits with three strikeouts.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - For 45 years, the Annual Cotton Row Run has been held on Memorial Day, in downtown Huntsville as a way to honor fallen soldiers and their families. Thousands of runners lined up at the starting line to take part in the 5k, 10k and 1-mile fun run through downtown. “The sacrifice that all these people did before me, so for me this is a small sacrifice that I do for them,” said active-duty member for the U.S. Army Vincente Rivera.

NORMAN, Okla. (WAFF) - The Alabama softball team’s season ends in the opening round of the NCAA Super Regionals, falling via mercy rule 13-2 to Oklahoma. Oklahoma’s eight-run third inning put the Tide in a hole early on. The Sooners used their power at the plate to their advantage, launching four home runs in the game. Alabama’s two runs came on solo home runs by Kali Heivilin and Marnie Giles. The Crimson Tide finished the season with a 40-23 overall record.
