SHELBYVILLE — After a sudden lease termination by the City of Greenwood, Jeff Air Pilot Services will relocate its operations to Shelbyville Municipal Airport. Officials say the move will ensure that the flight school’s students, veterans, and aviation professionals across Central Indiana experience no interruption in their training. The transition to Shelbyville Municipal Airport will begin on March 15th, with full flight school operations resuming on April 1st.
Man riding bicycle killed in south side crash

Indianapolis Metropolitan police are investigating a crash that killed a man on the city’s south side. Officers were called to East Raymond Street and Shelby Street around 7:15 a.m. on Thursday and found a male victim with injuries consistent with trauma. The man, who appeared to be riding a bicycle at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene. The IMPD fatal crash investigation team is handling the investigation.
Elderly homeowners recovering after south side fire

Two elderly homeowners are recovering after an overnight fire on Indianapolis' south side. Firefighters responded to a call just before 3:00 a.m. Friday morning at a home on Garfield Drive near Shelby Street. Upon arrival, crews found one resident on the roof of the house and the other in the front yard. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. According to firefighters, the fire originated in the basement of the home.
Indy man arrested in interstate shooting

INDIANAPOLIS — A 19-year-old Indianapolis man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on I-70 near downtown Indianapolis on January 2nd, 2025. Donte Roney of Indianapolis was arrested on February 5th, 2025, and faces preliminary charges of Criminal Recklessness and Attempted Murder. He is currently being held in the Marion County Jail.

(WRTV) — Hoosiers of all abilities can now more fully experience the beauty of River Heritage Park thanks to the installation of new interpretive signage featuring braille and tactile graphics. Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation has placed 10 signs along the White Tail Loop trail, enhancing accessibility for visitors with visual impairments. Braille allows for reading with fingertips, while tactile graphics use 3D shapes and textures to represent visual information.
Avian influenza detected in Indiana waterfowl

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) was found in waterfowl from Gibson County in December. Additionally, HPAI is suspected as the cause of waterfowl deaths in Allen, Benton, Hamilton, Lake, LaPorte, Newton, Pike, Porter, Starke, Tippecanoe, and Vermillion counties over the last six weeks. The recent detections are part of a larger trend, with 98 positive cases of HPAI found in waterfowl across the state since 2022.
