    Colorado Springs welcomed a new era in local government as six city council members were sworn in Tuesday morning in a ceremony held outside the Pioneers Museum. The group includes four new faces to the council, along with two returning members. Among the newcomers are Tom Bailey, District 2, Brandy Williams, District 3, Kimberly Gold, District 4, and Roland Rainey Jr,. District 6. The newly formed council is eager to begin addressing the city's most pressing issues.

    PUEBLO — First responders in Pueblo are praising improvements at Lake Minnequa Park for aiding their fire-fight Thursday night. The fire burned about 70 acres on the south end of the lake and crews were able to stop flames from reaching any buildings.     SOUTHERN COLORADO — Governor Jared Polis made his rounds around southern Colorado Wednesday. He stopped by Safe Passage in Colorado Springs to mark National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Safe Passage helps about 700 kids every year. The organization benefits from state funding, receiving more than $100,000 dollars per year.
