FOUNTAIN, Colo. (KOAA) — An evening marking Juneteenth was held in Fountain Thursday evening. The Pikes Peak Diversity Council hosted its annual Juneteenth ceremony at the Fountain Valley YMCA. There were different performances celebrating the holiday, including poetry, music and speeches.

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KOAA) — The Space Force has a new unit to help with national security. Schriever Space Force Base held a 'stand-up' ceremony to introduce Space Base Delta 41. The Delta has about 900 members, and most of them are airmen. The purpose of the Delta is to provide support during combat, while also taking care of the infrastructure for weapon systems. "We have... a very important set of weapon system infrastructure here," said Col. Eric D. Bogue with the United States Space Force.

PUEBLO, Colo. (KOAA) — Pueblo is celebrating the end of slavery with the annual Juneteenth celebration at Ray Aguilera Park on Saturday. Hundreds of people showed up for the event. There were community resources available, food, and a free day at the pool near the park. "It's not a black holiday; that is not such a thing. It's a celebration of a freedom of the peoples. So I always have to emphasize that and I always will, because we want everybody to come out.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) — More than two dozen police recruits are one step closer to keeping the Colorado Springs community safe. 28 officers graduated from the Colorado Springs Police Training Academy Thursday. They went through 26 weeks of intensive training, which included hands-on training as well as academic testing. News5 spoke with one graduate who tells us this is a dream come true.

(KOAA) — A project that addresses a critical need for the Academy School District 20 is complete!A ribbon cutting happened today for D20's new Fleet Maintenance Facility and the renovation of the Transportation Department building. The eight-million-dollar project is part of a voter-approved bond measure from 2016.
