    An arrest warrant has been issued for a fugitive who absconded from a rehabilitation centre near Newcastle after he allegedly forged Supreme Court bail documents. Hussein Chamas, 35, failed to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Monday, January 20. The Australian Federal Police (AFP) said he was arrested amid the Operation Ironside probe and is alleged to be a member of a syndicate that used the AN0M platform to import illicit drugs into Australia.

    Intense storms continue to sweep over large parts of New South Wales, with the latest fronts bringing marine-rescue dramas and giant hail to northern areas of the state. A wild storm front caused chaos on the waters around Tweed Heads on Thursday afternoon. Point Danger Marine Rescue Commander John Murray said several yachts were ripped from their moorings, and a vessel with a teenager on board was drifting towards the Barney Point Bridge.

    A multi-agency search has resumed for a teenage boy at a beach on the New South Wales Central Coast. Emergency services were called to North Avoca Beach about 3pm on Tuesday following reports a 15-year-old boy was missing in the water. The teen was reportedly swept from rocks. Helicopters, police, ambulance, surf lifesavers and marine rescue involved in yesterday's search efforts failed to locate the boy. Marine Rescue NSW Inspector Steve Raymond said search conditions had improved.
