I only had to look at the variety of stories we have in this edition of Doing Business in Osceola County to ask myself, what is not happening in area, because it seems everything is happening, including population growth. Newly released U.S. Census data confirms that Osceola County has grown faster than any other Central Florida counties since 2009. In 2022-23, it grew by nearly 4%, leaving the population just below half a million residents. Where people are, opportunities can flourish.

West Fairbanks Avenue is poised to be Winter Park’s next corridor to explode with activity from new businesses and restaurants. In the tony city, that one street and its tributaries have seen more than 20 commercial real estate transactions over two years valued at $36.5 million. The highest deal recorded closed on December 2022 at $7.75 million, just edging out the biggest deal in 2023 of $7 million. The smallest deal, valued at $241,000, happened in 2022 at 1210 Dallas Ave.

A fire that started late Monday was caused by a frequent patron of the Salvation Army in Kissimmee and left the entire building in ruins, a police affidavit said. “It was a client who came to get showers and meals and he would pray with us every morning. He was part of the community,” Center Director Andrea Ruiz said.
