Liz Shuler, the national AFL-CIO president, said she's been traveling the country speaking with impacted workers. “That’s what these hearings are all about," she said. "Recognizing Democrat, Republican, Independent; these cuts affect all of us.”The Maine AFL-CIO is a federation of over 200 labor unions representing 42,000 workers and retirees.

    After terminating the legal status of several international students, the federal government is now reversing course. A lawyer for the government read a statement in federal court saying ICE was manually restoring the status of students whose records were terminated in recent weeks. The ACLU had previously filed a lawsuit claiming students in New England who had their immigration status terminated were not given sufficient notice or reason for the cancellation.
