Judge Gary W. Chaney of the state's 506th District Court issued the order after several days of testimony in a civil case filed in August 2023 over the property deal.

Conroe city staff painted a bleak picture of the ongoing water crisis as the council moved closer to issuing a citywide building moratorium and to seek a water capacity waiver from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The council by a 3-2 vote Thursday voted to proceed with the plan, which would include public hearings and another vote. Mayor Pro Tem Harry Hardman and Councilman Howard Wood, the two "no" votes, pushed to defer the item to gather more information on the situation.

Harris County officials have blocked a new Katy-area pet crematorium from occupying its building after receiving complaints, and a nearby business owner said he hopes state and county officials deny issuing permits for the facility’s operation. Woof Prime LLC, operating as Loyal Souls Pet Crematorium at 3130 Fry Road, announced on Facebook in March that it was open for business and offering personalized pet cremation services.

A Grimes County District Judge has ruled the the Texas Renaissance Festival must be sold, ending a two-year legal battle over the popular festival. Judge Gary W. Chaney of the 506th state District Court issued the ruling Wednesday following several days of testimony last week in the civil case filed in August 2023. Chaney also said the festival's owner must pay over $23 million in damages to cover money lost by the buyer during the dispute, including attorney’s fees.
