A mural has been unveiled in Derry's Bogside honouring the late Nell McCafferty - journalist and feminist. Among those who paid tribute to 'Our Nell' as she was affectionately known at the event on Saturday afternoon, International Women's Day, was Michael D Higgins Uachtarán na hÉireann. President Higgins' messsage was read by community activist, Goretti Horgan.

An Emergency Rally for Palestine organised by the Derry branch of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (DIPSC) has taken place at Free Derry Corner in the city. Introducing the speakers, Bronagh McMonagle, DIPSC vice chairperson said those attending the Rally were once again “standing in solidarity with the people in Palestine”. “It has been 16 months of relentless horror.

The Western Health and Social Care Trust (WHSCT) has been accused of introducing major changes in the provision of domiciliary care in Derry’s cityside without prior consultation or agreement with service users or their carers. People receiving domiciliary care were informed about the changes in a letter from the Trust’s director of community and older people’s services; they came into effect on Monday morning (March 10).
