NEW GERMANY, Minn. — In 2024, more people are prioritizing travel and new experiences. That's the trend Forbes reported just this week and when vacation calls and folks go away, pets need a place to stay. Top Dog Country Club in Carver County is a local spot ready to meet those needs. The business has been serving the community since 2000, and owner Jean Stelten says it was the first facility of its kind. It came on the scene and changed the way dogs are cared for when their owners travel.

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Bouquets By Carolyn is planted at the intersection of Selby Avenue and Milton Street in Saint Paul. Owner Carolyn Smaller is a local and has been arranging beautiful bouquets for more than 30 years. "If you don't love what you're doing, you're not going to stay around to do it," Smaller said. Smaller said she is at her store all of the time. She cuts stems, designs arrangments and greets people with a friendly smile. Each month, she manages 500 to 600 orders.

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — The St. Paul Fire Department typically responds to more than 60,000 calls a year. But officials say that 2024 has gotten off to a difficult start. In January alone, five people died following fires. Four of those people - all of whom were young children - died after a house fire in St. Paul in early January. We first reported it . Investigators believe an unattended candle started the fire. Crews that responded to the scene that day say they're still processing what happened.

But first, the brothers are starting at M Health Fairview Masonic Children's Hospital. "It's a hospital in our community that we would like to support," Jack said.
