OREGON, USA — A Tualatin man is preparing for a 5,000-mile motorcycle journey across the country this summer in memory of his late mother, who died from Alzheimer's disease six years ago. Mike Hall will begin the solo ride June 21 at Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, and end at Cape Blanco on the Oregon coast. PORTLAND, Ore. — A local family is demanding accountability from the Madeleine School after their fourth-grade son was expelled just days after reporting that he was called a racial slur on campus. Karis Stoudamire-Phillips and her husband Mike Phillips said the incident occurred March 31. "We received a call from the school telling us that there had been a racial incident at the school and that our son had heard, and the N-word had been targeted towards him," said Karis.
