STODDARD, Wis. (WXOW) — We may be a few weeks off from the thought of camping, but a major step toward kicking off camping season happened Tuesday. Goose Island Campground officially opened Tuesday morning. The campground said over two dozen people are already checked in at the campground for the camping season. They said they are at about average numbers in terms of reservations.

Some are getting a head start on the work in their yards thanks to the 20th annual La Crescent Neighbors Day. The day brings together people of all different generations and backgrounds giving back to the community through service.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) — As we near the end of another week, another protest occurred in La Crosse. This one comes one day after reports have said over 1,300 Department of Education employees received official separation notices. A group identifying themselves as “Eagles for Equity” gathered under the clock tower Friday on the UW-La Crosse Campus. They say they are making their voices heard on the dismantling and restructuring of the Department of Education and beyond.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) — The La Crosse County Executive Committee voted not to sell the old La Crosse County Farm Wednesday morning. Three groups showed interest in the county property outside West Salem. One of the proposals was to possibly relocate Country Boom to that location. 19 News spoke with the planner of the project to relocate the country music festival after the vote.

WEST SALEM, Wis. (WXOW) — The possible move of Country Boom to a plot of farmland in West Salem has been put on hold, at least for now. There were three groups interested in the Old County farm near West Salem. As we reported, Country Boom wanted to move its music festival there and build hundreds of homes. The idea had some support. "The Country Boom proposal may not be perfect, but I believe that it is good,” West Salem Village President Scott Schumacher said.
