A Southfield man was found guilty Wednesday of the 2021 death of his 8-year-old sister, the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office said. Gyasi Stribling, 24, was convicted of first-degree murder by an Oakland County Circuit Court jury after a two-day trial, according to court records. A Highland Township man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly fatally shot his girlfriend, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said. The victim was identified as Rachel Renee Wooten, 23, officials said. Police said the 21-year-old suspect called 911 just after 4 p.m. Tuesday to report he had shot his fiancée and himself at the Highland Township home they shared. Deputies arrived at the home in the 200 block of Maple and arrested the suspect without incident, according to authorities.
Westland police investigate murder-suicide

Police are investigating what they said appears to have been a murder-suicide Tuesday at a Westland home. Westland police dispatchers received a 911 call at about 7:20 p.m. from a man who said he shot his girlfriend and that he was going to take his own life. While on the call, a dispatcher heard what sounded like a gunshot followed by silence, officials said. Police immediately went to the home, located in the 1400 block of Surrey Heights Street near John Hix and Palmer roads, authorities said.
Grosse Ile Parkway Bridge to close in May for repairs

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said her office is charging a 51-year-old Detroit man in connection with three sexual assaults reported more than 20 years ago. She said she's charging Akida Diaba Dudley with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Dudley is scheduled to be arraigned in the 36th District Court in Detroit later Wednesday.
