SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ – The Scotch Plains-Fanwood 4x400 relay team of Justin Timchak, Max Handler, Justice Larkin, and Blake Jackson have been named Joint Motion Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week. The boys won gold at the 2025 Union County Championships on Friday, May 9, running a 3:24.23 in the Boys 4x400 Meter Relay. “It was a big win for us and one of our goals for the meet,” said SPF track head coach Jeffrey Koegel.

Sahasrabudhe just recently won his second-consecutive Union County Championship in 1st singles on Friday, May 2, retaining his title as the top tennis player in the county for the second year in a row. “I am not surprised,” said SPF boys tennis head coach Barbara Joyner.

CHESTER, NJ – Scotch Plains-Fanwood Boys Lacrosse earned their ninth win of the season on Tuesday, April 29, defeating West Morris Central 9-4. SPF sophomore Nick Homer, just one game after becoming the first sophomore in SPFHS history to reach 100 career points in boys lacrosse, once again led the team in scoring with five goals. Other goals for the Raiders came from Sammy Jimenez with two and one each from Noah Brown and Brian Kloepfer.

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ – The Raiders had their second-highest scoring total of the season on Tuesday, April 29, in their 19-7 win over Mount St. Dominic at home. Scotch Plains-Fanwood now improves their record to 8-5 for the season. SPF senior Juliana Doran tied her season-high for goals on Tuesday with eight. The last time Doran scored eight goals was in SPF's 20-10 win over Saddle River Day on April 22, the team's highest scoring total of the season.

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ – Michael Cantwell, senior on the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Baseball team, has been named Joint Motion Physical Therapy Athlete of the Week. Cantwell recently pitched a no-hitter against College Achieve Central on Saturday, April 19, pitching all five innings (mercy rule) with no hits, no runs, one walk, and seven strikeouts. “All around, the day was a great day for the Raiders. Mike put the icing on the cake for us,” said SPF head coach John “JR” Luccarelli.

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ – What began as a lighthearted comment from one high school alum to another has now turned into a business relationship and friendship that will help benefit the arts programs at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. At the SPFHS Hall of Fame ceremony in May 2024, comedian Mike Marino (Class of ‘81) gave his speech where he jokingly mentioned that he and Emmy Award-winning director/producer Daniel Catullo (Class of ’90), should work together on a comedy special.
