    SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – Union Catholic jumped out to a early lead and outlasted crosstown rival Scotch Plains-Fanwood for local bragging rights in a 14-9 slugfest at Union Catholic on Wednesday. In the bottom of the second inning, the Vikings took a 5-0 lead. Luiggi Sacca drove in a run with a fielder's choice, Greg Viloria singled in a run, and Chris Wilson singled in two runs.

    SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ – The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Boys Tennis team defeated cross-town rival Union Catholic on Wednesday, April 16, winning four of five matches. All four wins for SPF came in 6-0, 6-0 shutouts. SPF senior Anand Sahasrabudhe won his fourth 1st singles match of the season, against UC junior Ryan Bokina. Sahasrabudhe has only given up four points against his opponents this season and remains as the top player for the Raiders.

    SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ – Gail Rhein, longtime adult scout leader at BSA Troop 104, will be posthumously honored at the “Good Scout Awards” on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, by BSA's Patriots Path Council at the Westwood (438 North Ave., Garwood, NJ). Gail passed away from leukemia surrounded by her two children on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Gail was born in Newark on October 2, 1960, to Anthony and Beatrice Seritella, and grew up in Rahway.

Unlike many other ambulance services, the squad is 100% volunteer. Not one of our over 90 members is paid; we work for pride, not pay, so we NEVER bill for our services.
