Right-hander Unique McMullen fired a two-hitter and the Pirates scored all the runs they’d need in the first inning en route to a 3-1 3A division semifinal victory over John Jay Wednesday at Curtis HS in St. George.

LAKELAND, FLORIDA — A career criminal somehow survived an alligator attack, then died in a hail of bullets by deputies shortly after he charged them with garden shears, according to multiple reports. Timothy Schultz, 42, was apparently high on meth, according to Polk County sheriff Grady Judd, when the deputies were forced to open fire on the man. Schultz decided to go swimming in an alligator-infested lake when a gator bit one of his arms.
