    On March 15, 300 guests attended the Breakthrough T1D “One Night in Venice” Gala at Pendry Newport Beach, which helped to raise nearly $1 million for T1D. This event has become a staple in Orange County and is known as one of the premiere social and charitable events. In fact, since Breakthrough T1D began in 1970, the organization has become the world’s largest private funder of type 1 diabetes. Each year, the stunning gathering continues to draw hundreds of business and philanthropic leaders.

    The Corona del Mar resident started the nonprofit 22 years ago with her husband Paul after their son Hawken was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.     Magnani began her career as a dancer, performing in music videos and commercials until she caught the attention of Martin Scorcese and landed a role in a major film. She has appeared in numerous television series, and has written and directed two award-winning short films, “In Shreds” and “Regarding Rose,” the latter of which is currently on the festival circuit and, as of press time, has garnered 11 awards. In addition to writing and directing, she also teaches acting and dancing in Laguna Hills.
