A second person accused of kidnapping and torturing a man for three weeks to steal his Bitcoin fortune surrendered to the police on Tuesday morning, said Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch. The man's surrender followed the arrest on Friday of two others in the case. John Woeltz, a cryptocurrency investor, was charged with assault, kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment and criminal possession of a gun. Beatrice Folchi was also arrested.

NEW YORK — A 37-year-old cryptocurrency investor was charged Saturday with kidnapping a man and beating, shocking and torturing him for weeks in a luxury townhouse in downtown Manhattan, all in a scheme to get the man’s bitcoin password, authorities said. The crypto investor, John Woeltz, was taken into custody Friday after the man managed to escape the townhouse and notify the police.
