NEW ORLEANS – Saginaw Valley State University senior track and field athlete Cheyenne Williamson added a National Player of the Week award to her accomplishments this week. The award was selected by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday afternoon. Williamson was the first collegiate student-athlete to win the pentathlon at the USA Track & Field Indoor Combined Events Championships held in Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon.

Williamson won the pentathlon at the USA Track & Field Indoor Combined Events Championships held in Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon.

INDIANAPOLIS – Saginaw Valley State University senior Cheyenne Williamson won the pentathlon at the USA Track & Field Indoor Combined Events Championships held in Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon. Williamson finished 57 points ahead of the second-place finisher with 4475 total points after her five events. Her day was highlighted in the high jump where she cleared the bar for a new school record height of 1.83m, breaking her school record with the first-place height.

UNIVESITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University women's track and field athlete Cheyenne Williamson was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) women's track athlete of the week by the league office. Williamson led the Saginaw Valley State women's track and field team at the annual Doug Hansen Open last Friday. She improved upon her 60m hurdle school record at the meet with a time of 8.29 seconds.

EUGENE, Ore. – Saginaw Valley State University junior Cheyenne Williamson competed at the 2023 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships Heptathlon this week. The three-time NCAA Division II Outdoor National Champion finished 13th in the two-day event with a final score of 4190. Williamson trailed five professional and former NCAA Division I athletes that included a 2019 Olympian after day one.

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Cheyenne Williamson continues her fantastic career at Saginaw Valley State University as she was named the NCAA Division II Honda Athlete of the Year finalist for track & field by THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda. Williamson joins the other 10 finalists of the DII Honda Athlete of the Year award that will be presented as part of the CWSA program, now in its 47th year.

PUEBLO, Co. – The Saginaw Valley State University Track and Field team kicked off the first day of competition at the NCAA Division II National Championships on May 25. The first day consisted of one athlete from the men's team and three athletes from the women's team competing in the championships. Men's TeamRyan Brenner – DecathlonBrenner is 1 of 15 athletes in the event throughout the next two days. He currently sits in sixth place overall for the Cardinals with 3801 total points.
