An Aberdeen food van boss is “devastated” over being forced out because of cycle lanes being installed. Located on Hareness Road, Yilmaz Snack Bar has been in operation for the past 10 years and has gained a strong following from hungry workers from Altens Industrial Estate and college students. The burger van boss thought he might have until the end of the year to operate on the street, but roadworks to prepare for the cycle lane have him fearing for the future of his business.

A fire at a block of flats in Peterhead is being treated as wilful by police. The fire service was made aware of the incident on Windmill Street shortly before 5pm on Sunday. Photos shared on social media showed flames coming from a top floor window, with black smoke billowing into the sky. Nobody was injured as a result of the fire. It is understood the building, which has boarded up windows, is empty and has been broken into several times.

A fire has broken out at a block of flats in Peterhead town centre, with emergency services scrambling to the scene. Firefighters are currently dealing with the blaze on Windmill Street, which took place at around 4.50pm this afternoon. Pictures show flames coming from a top floor window, with black smoke bellowing into the sky. As a result of this, part of the road has been closed to traffic.

Excitement is building in Aberdeen ahead of the Tall Ships arriving next month – and no more so than in the kitchens of Hudsons Catering. They will have staff on board every ship as the stunning vessels berth in the Granite City, serving up fine food to crews and the companies that have hired them to entertain guests. An array of top Scottish and local produce will be showcased, with the menus including rowies and muffins, scallops and black pudding, kebabs and Scotch eggs.

A fire that broke out at a derelict building in Aberdeen last night is being treated as “wilful”, police have confirmed. The incident happened on Manor Drive at around 6.45pm, with fire services going to the scene to tackle the blaze. In total, two appliances were dispatched to the street, which is located near the A96 at Auchmill Road. At the height of the fire, flames could be seen through the windows of the small, stone derelict building that is located on site.
