A fire reported by Ontario Forest Fires to be 0.1 hectares in size, is causing some great concern this afternoon just west of North Bay. North Bay Police Chief Daryl Longworth has prioritized a new radio system over implementing body-worn cameras for his patrol officers. During police budget deliberations in January 2025, Longworth emphasized the need to upgrade the department’s aging radio system. "The big surprise is the radio infrastructure, and that was never previously in the capital budget, so it's a new add this year," said Longworth. "It is something that is definitely needed.
