A 21-year-old subway rider was stabbed in the chest in an apparent unprovoked attack aboard a train in the Bronx, according to police. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. Friday on a southbound 5 train near the White Plains Road and East 219th Street station in the Williamsbridge neighborhood, police said. The suspect took out a knife and stabbed the victim repeatedly in the chest before running off.

A Staten Island homeowner was stuck with a hefty repair bill after a group of vandals smashed through his fence, possibly as part of an online trend. Video of the incident showed a a group of people — believed to be teenagers — rammed their way through Ben Helwa’s fence at his home in the Eltingville neighborhood in early April. A man was shot and killed by police on Friday mere steps from his Long Island home in an exchange that officials said started as a welfare check. Bruce Boyd, a retired New York City correction officer, was shot and killed by Suffolk police around 12:30 p.m. after officials with the department said he charged at three cops with a bloody knife. The ex-boyfriend of a Bronx woman found dead in a suitcase near a Yonkers highway was charged in her murder, according to police. Junior Perez Diaz was arrested Friday and charged with with second-degree murder, manslaughter and kidnapping in the death of Pamela Alcantara, police said. The 46-year-old Perez Diaz had previously dated Alcantara, according to family members.
