April is Autism Awareness Month, and what better way to celebrate than with a dance party? Ballet dancers with #instaballet and students from Bridgeway House recently teamed up to do just that. Bridgeway House provides resources to children and families living with autism. Patricia Wigney and a group of parents formed the nonprofit agency 25 years ago. They opened the first school in 2009. Today, the nonprofit serves over 90 children at locations in Eugene and Camp Creek east of Springfield.

I remember driving to RiverBend Hospital in Springfield on the evening of March 17, 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic. Medical officials had summoned the media to announce the first death from the disease in Lane County. As I drove through the darkness, I wondered what the future held.
