A storm struck atop Huntsville's Monte Sano Tuesday night, toppling trees, pulling down power lines, and leaving a mess in its wake. Allie Doiron, who lives on Monte Sano, found herself rethinking the beauty of the trees surrounding her home after the storm. "You never think it's gonna be you," Doiron said. The storm toppled dozens of trees, with one narrowly missing Doiron's house by just a few feet. "God was here. A lot of prayers in the basement," she said.

An ABC station, Chattanooga's WTVC, reports a child has died following a Mother's Day crash involving an 18-wheeler that resulted in two other deaths and one arrest. Sawyer Gene Smith was the son of Lane Smith, a young father from Fayetteville, Tennessee, who died in that crash on Interstate 75 in East Ridge. A Georgia man also died in the crash. Sawyer and his mom were both taken to a Chattanooga hospital following the crash. Sawyer's sister was airlifted to a Nashville hospital.

A man is dead and his wife and two children in critical condition after a fiery multi-car Mother's Day crash involving an 18-wheeler. Investigators say Lane Smith died when that truck slammed into 6 cars on Interstate 75 near Chattanooga. They say two cars, including Smith's, burst into flames with him and his family trapped inside. Smith's wife and son are in a Chattanooga hospital. His daughter was airlifted to a Nashville hospital for care.

She once owned a hospice care company, but as her children grew up and her hospice patients died, she felt a profound loss. "I not only lost my biological family, I lost my other family - my family of clients, patients," Gist said. To cope with the loneliness, Gist turned to alcohol.
