Beth Gist never imagined she would face homelessness. Gist grew up in Florence, raising three children and working as a registered nurse. "The perfect little family," Gist said. She once owned a hospice care company, but as her children grew up and her hospice patients died, she felt a profound loss. "I not only lost my biological family, I lost my other family - my family of clients, patients," Gist said. To cope with the loneliness, Gist turned to alcohol.

A Morgan County judge says he won't postpone Mac Bailey Marquette's upcoming immunity hearing and trial. Judge Charles Elliott issued that ruling Thursday. Marquette's lawyer requested that postponement last Friday, while he awaits a ruling from the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals on his motion to have Elliott removed from the case.
