The Veterans Memorial Eagles' boys basketball team received their bronze medals Thursday for reaching the state semifinal. The Eagles' community was there to recognize them for their incredible run with Mayor Paulette Guajardo on hand as well as CCISD Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez. The Eagles were 39-0 before falling to eventual state champion Beaumont West Brook.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — There have been two Coastal Bend softball controversies in as many days as London softball was forced to forfeit four district games due to using an unidentified ineligible player. London ISD released a statement saying the school self reported the player to the district committee and to the UIL and that she was ineligible due to academics. The Pirates went from being a sure-fire playoff team to now needing to fight their way in and get a little help as well.
