BISHOPVILLE, S.C. — For more than four decades, you can find Mrs. Cynthia Davis doing what she loves. She is currently a second grade teacher at Dennis Elementary School in Lee County. “I taught in Charleston for like, 21 years, and then my other 20 years, I taught right here in Lee County. I went to elementary school here, high school here, and went to college in Columbia. And so, this is home for me,” says Mrs. Davis.

SUMMERTON, S.C. — Mrs. Bridget Wells is our next News19 Teacher of the Week. Mrs. Wells was born and raised in Summerton and a graduate of Clarendon Hall, where she now teaches. It's also her alma mater. “I tell them all the time. They are why I get up every day and come,” says Mrs. Wells. But teaching wasn’t her original path. "In the beginning, I felt like I was going to go into nursing, and then realized that was not for me. I did a lot of praying, and just felt to go into education.

SALUDA COUNTY, S.C. — "She makes everything fun. She just makes it easy and fun and understandable," says 5th grade student Layla Nichols. "She does a great job with it. Because when she teaches, it's like not really teaching. She's teaching, but it's fun," says 5th grade student Shaun Kincaid. Class at Hollywood Elementary School in Saluda County started with some adjectives to describe Mrs. Ashlee Morse. They included awesome, funny, caring and smart. "I love fifth graders.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Listen up, Midlands. The South Carolina National Guard wants you to know about a larger-than-normal military presence in the skies this weekend. The U.S. military will conduct a joint training exercise called the Palmetto Fury throughout the weekend. Starting Friday, the Army National Guard will be out with its Black Hawk and Apache helicopters, as well as engineers.
