LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Every week, the City of Lubbock’s food inspectors surprise local restaurants, food trucks, and schools to make sure every meal is up to par. It’s a short order in this week’s Food for Thought with one top performer and one low performer. PF Chang’s at 2906 W Loop 289 had 33 violations. Raw eggs, on a prep table, were above the safe cold temperature of 41 degrees. A sanitizer solution for the dishes was not strong enough.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A little more than three-dozen restaurants, food trucks and more got a surprise health inspection this week. Only one was good or bad enough to end up on this week’s list, and it’s at the bottom. Rise N Shine Donuts at 6302 Frankford Ave. had 24 violations. Ready-to-eat kolaches were not hot enough. They were held in a warmer and the facility was using time-as-a-control without approval.

This week they’re giving out top marks, but one drink spot is on the low-performer line. Lone Star Tea at 5207 98th had 15 violations. Cut oranges, lemons and limes were above the safe cold temperature of 41 degrees. The water dispenser had an accumulation of brown residue. There was an accumulation of dried food on the fruit slicer.
