SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - A Shelby County couple is suing the Shelby County Board of Education and Chelsea school leaders saying the school system failed to protect their son from repeated bullying, which they say ultimately led to his suicide. Jackson McQueen was a 15-year-old student at Chelsea High School in 2022. His parents remember the last family vacation they took with Jackson. “It was a week before he took his life and during that week of spring break, we had the best week,” said Gloria.
