BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - We’re taking an “Off the Beaten Path Return Trip” to the year 2000. That’s when Cliff Naylor did a story on how North Dakota Highway 46 unofficially became a record-setting stretch of asphalt. So, take a look at a younger Cliff as we look back to when he visited the southeastern corner of the state for a trip on a long and not-so-winding road. Watch the full story in the video above.

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - In 2004, Cliff Naylor traveled to a campground near Jamestown to see what summer travelers could experience there. Watch the full story in the video above. Unfortunately, the Prairie Haven Campground in Eckelson is permanently closed. But if you want to start planning your summer camping trips, the North Dakota Parks and Recreation website has a list of camp grounds and camp sites. BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - It’s almost impossible to meet someone who is depicted on a United States coin. Congressional regulations state a person must be dead for five years before their image can appear on a treasury issue. There have been just two exceptions to that rule: the Kennedy half-dollar was minted less than a year after the president was assassinated, and the dollar Sacagawea coin used a model. In 2004, Cliff Naylor visited with her for his “Off the Beaten Path” series.

GARRISON, N.D. (KFYR) - The “Hot” and “Cold” twin water towers in Garrison, North Dakota, are no longer the talk of the town. Twenty-five years after Cliff Naylor did an “Off the Beaten Path” story on the city’s unique water storage tanks, they’ve been freshened up. This “Off the Beaten Path: Return Trip” story takes us back to June 16 of 2000 when the tourist town had two water towers. Watch the full story in the video above.

WOLF POINT, Mont. (KFYR) - Montana is the home of “Big Bud Tractors,” and in the early 2000s, it was also the home of some small toy “Big Bud” replicas. In his “Off the Beaten Path” series, Cliff Naylor traveled to Wolf Point, Montana to talk to the man behind the business. Watch the full story in the video above. Martin stopped making tractors so he could enjoy his retirement. If you still like Big Bud Toy Tractors, you can buy them online at the official “Williams Big Bud Tractor” store.
