KwaZulu-Natal Transport MEC Siboniso Duma’s proposal for drunk drivers in the province to face a six-year direct imprisonment sentence has received the DA’s support. With the rise in road fatalities in the province, particularly during holidays such as Easter — starting on Friday and ending on Monday — Duma said there was an urgent need for a punishment that could deter people from driving under the influence.
