    SPOKANE, Wash. — As the fentanyl crisis continues to grow in Spokane, a local group is rallying in an attempt to slow down the death toll. Kitara Johnson-Jones lost her son Gabriel to fentanyl in March. On Tuesday, she shared her story at an event hosted by "Save Our Spokane."  "Gabriel was an amazing, smart young man. He fought hard for his recovery. He relapsed a couple of times, but he always got up and started again. He wouldn't quit," said Johnson-Jones.

    CHENEY, Wash. — Firefighters battled a house fire in Cheney that ended up spreading to an Eastern Washington University sorority house next door on Sunday. According to the Cheney Fire Department (CFD), the fire started around 5 p.m. Sunday on the 300 block of 2nd Street. CFD Battalion Chief Tim Steiner said no one was inside either building at the time of the fire. No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

    SPOKANE, Wash. — The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) released a report detailing a nearly 10% drop in the state's wolf population. But department leadership says they are not concerned about the decline. "I was a wolf bio with Montana State for two years before coming to Washington," said Shubh Bhattacharjee, the wolf and grizzly bear policy lead for WDFW. He says the population is technically growing. "Washington's wolf population is a recovering population.

But the WIAA says even if the amendments are approved, they will not go into effect immediately.
