Bearkat Soccer releases 2024 fall schedule

HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- The Sam Houston soccer team released its schedule for the 2024 season with seven matches set to be played in Huntsville, including three Conference USA contests. The Kats went 6-4-7 in its first season in CUSA a year ago under third-year head coach Sonia Curvelo. Sam Houston went 3-3-2 in league play in 2023 and went 1-1 in the postseason tournament.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- Sam Houston head coach Chris Mudge has added another key piece to bolster the front court for the 2024-25 season. Cheikh Sadibou Ndiaye, a 6-10 forward from Miami, recently signed with the Bearkats. The ESPN three-star recruit for the class of 2023 had offers from FIU, Jacksonville State and Tarleton. “Cheikh is a very talented forward with tremendous upside,” Mudge said. “Before his injury, he was a high major recruit and his athleticism, movement and skill reflect that.
C-USA announces broadcast schedule for Sam Houston football

DALLAS -- Conference USA has released its broadcast schedule for the 2024 football season, the league office announced on Thursday. Sam Houston will be featured in 12 national broadcasts across the CBS Sports Network and ESPN channels. The Bearkats will have six traditional linear broadcasts and six matchups featured on the ESPN digital platform. The majority of these games will take place on Saturday.

BOSTON, Massachusetts -- Sam Houston men’s basketball head coach Chris Mudge has been named a finalist for two national coaching awards, CollegeInsider.com announced on Tuesday. Mudge is one of 16 finalists chosen for the Joe B. Hall award which is presented annually to the top rookie, first-year head coach in Division I college basketball. He is also one of the 20 finalist for the Hugh Durham award is given to the top mid-major coach.

HUNTSVILLE —Jaden Ray hit the game-winning shot in the closing seconds to lead Sam Houston to a 78-74 nail-biting victory over Western Kentucky on Wednesday at Johnson Coliseum. The Bearkats (9-8) led for the majority of the second half when the Hilltoppers (12-4) rallied to take their first lead since the 8:01 mark at 67-66. It was back and forth from there. Offensive struggles costly for Kats at ASUTEMPE, Ariz. — The baskets in the Desert Financial Arena were not very forgiving for the Bearkats on Wednesday evening. Sam Houston looked off target most of the night in a 78-61 loss to Arizona State. The setback ended the Kats’ modest three-game winning streak as they fell to 4-4 on the season in their fifth road contest in the last six games. Damon Nicholas Jr. had another solid performance for Sam Houston with a team-high 15 points.
