LA PINE, Ore. -- Michael Lantz lost his home in La Pine because of a chimney flue fire in 2016. He has since lived in a trailer on his property as he tries to build a new house where his old one once stood. “Permits. I've put in $6,000, $10,000 to the manufactured home dealer. $3,000 to the wood stove installers and another $10,000 to the excavators," Lantz said. That's nearly $30,000 and it doesn't include his attorney fees that he says have ran well over another $10,000.
