Ellison on April 23 filed the suit on behalf of Thomas W. Woods, 33, on Monday, May 12, appeared before Saginaw County District Judge A.T. Frank for a preliminary examination. Rather than proceed with witnesses’ testimony, Woods waived his right to have the hearing begin within 21 days of his arraignment.

    MIDLAND, MI — A Midland County couple is facing child abuse charges after a child allegedly overdosed on illegal drugs while in their care. Sheriff’s deputies on April 2 responded to a Geneva Township residence for an unresponsive 3-year-old boy receiving CPR. The boy was taken to MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland where staff managed to save his life. Deputies’ initial investigation indicated the boy had ingested an illicit substance.
