ATHENS — If the spring game isn’t televised and thus only the people in the stadium saw it, does it still really matter? That is the question Kirby Smart will be pondering moving forward. He thought Saturday was a successful day for the program, where the Red Team beat the Black Team 34-17. But when asked if the annual G-Day tradition would continue, Smart was noncommittal. “I’d say it’s year by year,” Smart said.

Winner: London HumpherysOn the whole, it was a positive day for the wide receivers. Colbie Young had an impressive touchdown grab, while Dillon Bell did a little bit of everything. Cole Speer and Talyn Taylor each had a drop but CJ Wiley made an impressive one-handed grab for a 35-yard reception. Yet among all of Georgia’s pass catchers, it was the second-year transfer from Vanderbilt who had the best day. Working for both squads, Humpherys caught 5 passes for 85 yards.

ATHENS — Sophomore linebacker Justin Williams gave Georgia fans plenty of tangible reasons to be excited with his performance on Saturday. Williams played how you would expect the former No. 1 linebacker prospect in the country to play. He finished with 9 tackles, more than any Bulldog. His 3 tackles for loss were tied with CJ Allen for the team-high on G-Day. His play style was that of a wrecking ball, knocking down any positive attempts by the Georgia offense.

ATHENS — Defining a successful G-Day is difficult. Georgia threw the ball 88 times Saturday, as there is little balance to the offense. Defenders aren’t able to hit the quarterback, either, while it often plays very vanilla coverage and rarely blitzes. On the whole, Kirby Smart liked what he saw on Saturday afternoon, when the Red Team beat the Black team, 34-17. “Some good and bad for both, but that’s the way spring games go,” Smart said.

The D in Demello stands for Dawg (It doesn't actually but it sounds cool and hearing others speak about the second year cornerback, it fits) https://t.co/nP2phpe8xX

Georgia's cornerback position battle is one of the most competitive on the team. And that suits Demello Jones just fine: https://t.co/SSvr1nTlu5
