WOONSOCKET – North Smithfield resident Bruce Waterson and his wife Caroline enjoyed a romantic evening on Dec. 15, 2024. They went out to dinner and saw the Boston Pops before returning to their home on High Point Drive. But at around 1 a.m., 70-year-old Bruce began vomiting every hour. By 5 a.m., the chest pain started. At 6:07 a.m., North Smithfield EMS responded to the Watersons’ home and found Bruce in bed, short of breath but with no major risk factors aside from high cholesterol.

WOONSOCKET – A new Little Free Library has arrived inside the Pothier Elementary School, thanks to the initiative of librarian Denise Phillips. A Little Free Library is a small, publicly accessible book-sharing box where anyone can take or leave a book, part of a global movement to promote literacy and community connection. The book-sharing station at Pothier was one of 200 selected through a national giveaway from the Little Free Library nonprofit.

BURRILLVILLE – For Bravo Brewing and other Main Street fixtures, the Fountain Square Spring Splash isn’t just a festival, it’s one of the busiest and most important nights of the year. This Saturday, May 31, from 4 to 9 p.m., downtown Pascoag will come alive again for the biannual event drawing thousands to food, drink, and Big Nazo puppets. Though this is technically the 3rd annual Spring Splash, the village festival also has an iteration in the fall.
