A jury has found 52-year-old Donald Harris guilty of first-degree murder in the death of his acquaintance, Matthew Hire, in spring 2023. Hire’s body was found inside his RV in the Golden-area Wooly Mammoth Park-N-Ride lot in mid-April 2023, but investigators believe he was killed on or around March 26.

Golden’s high-flying professional ultimate disc team is returning to Marv Kay Stadium this summer. On April 26, the Colorado Summit kicked off its 2025 season with a 24-12 win over the Oregon Steel. While it was a Summit home game, due to scheduling conflicts, the team hosted it at Thornton’s Pinnacle Athletic Complex. The Summit was scheduled to be on the road in Texas May 16-17, but then it’s slated to host the Steel again May 24 at Colorado School of Mines’ Marv Kay Stadium.

At Camp George West, just outside the Colorado State Patrol Academy building, there is a wall with 365 names written on it. The names are of law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty in Colorado, and every year since 1979, more names have been added to the list. This year, one of them was Golden Police Officer Evan Dunn. Dunn, 33, died Nov. 6 while responding to a traffic accident along Highway 58.

And she’s not planning on stopping anytime soon. “Keep showing up,” she said to those who have been impacted by Trump’s policy decisions. “Make your voices heard.”Butters and at least 250 others lined Washington Avenue between 10th and 11th streets as part of nationwide May Day protests.
