    HARVEY, N.D. (KMOT) - Harvey First Lutheran Church is hosting its second annual “Chip in for mental health charity golf event” fundraiser on Sunday. Ted Sitz, one of its organizers says this year’s proceeds will go towards the Wells County Community Cares organization. He said Community Cares will distribute funds to help people using mental health services who are struggling to make payments. Some things to look forward to are a dinner and three dollars for every unlimited mulligan you take.

    MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - The Minot City Council voted down a proposal this week to fund the infrastructure of possible housing developments. The proposal called for the city to cover $17,000 per lot to install sewer, water, utilities and the like east of 55th Street Southeast. Multiple council members questioned whether this type of investment for developers would lead to lower housing costs and the number of years it would take for future property owners to pay it back through special assessments.

    MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - The City of Minot’s Puppy Dog Coulee storm sewer project is in the process of negotiating easements to complete the construction. City Engineer Lance Meyer said the city needs easements to reroute culverts by Hotel Revel and Pacific Sound, so the upcoming sewer system is enhanced. He said right now, the essential materials needed for the construction are taking much longer to get.

    MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - If you’re ever curious about air quality near you, there are ways to find out. Adrienne Sandoval, air and radiation division director for EPA Region Eight, said the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality has strategically placed nine air quality monitors throughout the state based on population and weather data. She said the devices monitor for six criteria pollutants. Sandoval said the AirNow website gives good information and even has a fire and smoke map.

    MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - This week, the new-look Minot City Council voted on whether to purchase land for future use down the line if their current facilities run out of space. But, the votes ended in a tie. City manager Harold Stewart said a property owner offered to sell land near city facilities to the city. He said $920,000 from the enterprise funds would be used to make the purchase.
