KUMV-TV (Williston, ND)

KUMV-TV, operating on channel 8, is the NBC affiliate for Williston, North Dakota. It functions as a semi-satellite of KMOT, which is based in Minot, North Dakota. This station broadcasts a high-definition digital signal on VHF channel 8 (also known as virtual channel 8.1 through PSIP) from its transmitter located west of Williston, close to the North Dakota-Montana border. While KUMV presents itself as an independent station, it primarily simulcasts programming from KMOT. The station's studios and advertising sales office are situated at the crossroads of Main Street (U.S. 2 Business) and 6th Street East in Williston. For viewers in Montana, KUMV's broadcast area observes Mountain Time, which means that primetime programming starts at 6 p.m. instead of the typical 7 p.m. The station is available on Midcontinent cable channel 5 in Williston and channel 8 in most other locations, with a high-definition version accessible on Midcontinent digital channel 605.
