    After a marathon 15-inning game earlier in the week, it was understandable that Mountain View ran out of gas Friday against Los Gatos. In the toughest series of the season, the Spartans held their own against defending SCVAL champion Los Gatos despite losing both games. The first game started Tuesday, April 1, and spanned two days, with the contest cut off at 7:45 p.m. when darkness hit and the team’s tied 5-5 in the 11th inning at Los Gatos.

    Los Altos Hills is planning amendments to its housing element as it seeks further restrictions on growth in the area, although its plan doesn’t go far enough for some residents.  On Thursday, the city council approved amending its housing element, a blueprint document that must realistically detail how a city will plan and zone for future developments.

    St. Francis is off to a hot start in league play after a sweep over defending WCAL champion Valley Christian last week, including a shutout performance from St. Francis ace Landon Kim in the team’s opener. St. Francis beat Valley Christian 2-1 at home Friday thanks to two RBIs from Bobby Hill and six innings from Nick Chow, while the league opener on March 18 saw Kim take advantage of a hot St. Francis offensive start.

    Another blustery, rainy storm brought power outages and other adverse weather-related issues to Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Mountain View last week.  Motorists and pedestrians in downtown Los Altos may have noticed the top of a partially downed tree outside, and in the parking lot of, the 401 Main St. Chevron just off of Foothill Expressway.
