Santa Clara County officials remain committed to public safety solutions in the Los Altos Hills area, with hopes of bringing more ALPR cameras to parts of the unincorporated areas of the town. At a neighborhood watch event in Los Altos Hills Sunday, Santa Clara County Sheriff Bob Jonsen said his office is doing analysis on having automated license plate readers in unincorporated areas of the county where they aren’t currently, including parts of Foothill Expressway.

A battle between league favorite St. Francis and challenger Valley Christian saw the Lancers win 9-2 Wednesday. Mountain View boys golf wins El Camino title

For the first time since 2007, the Mountain View boys golf team has won a league title. Mountain View finished first in the Santa Clara Valley El Camino Division at 10-2 after second place Milpitas lost Thursday, with coach Bruce Jaffe happy about the result. “I would like to say this is the best group of young student-athletes that I’ve had in my four years at Mountain View High School,” Jaffe said.

The 6-foot-6 senior from Los Altos has a rare combination of height, athleticism and hitting power that he will bring to the Pepperdine University team next season and has St. Francis in second place in the West Catholic Athletic League following a 3-0 win over Serra Thursday.

After a marathon 15-inning game earlier in the week, it was understandable that Mountain View ran out of gas Friday against Los Gatos. In the toughest series of the season, the Spartans held their own against defending SCVAL champion Los Gatos despite losing both games. The first game started Tuesday, April 1, and spanned two days, with the contest cut off at 7:45 p.m. when darkness hit and the team’s tied 5-5 in the 11th inning at Los Gatos.

St. Francis beat Valley Christian 2-1 at home Friday thanks to two RBIs from Bobby Hill and six innings from Nick Chow, while the league opener on March 18 saw Kim take advantage of a hot St. Francis offensive start.
